2025 was a year of deliberate building for Canopy.

Rather than chasing noise or short-term trends, we focused on strengthening the foundations that matter most: data integrity, analytical clarity, and systems that reflect how wealth is actually managed today.

This year marked a shift — from simply building capabilities to building with conviction.

Across product development, research, and industry engagement, our priority was not to add complexity, but to create a system clients can rely on as portfolios, structures, and expectations continue to grow more complex.

As we move into 2026, our direction is equally clear: to turn these strong foundations into operational leverage for our clients.

Building with Conviction: 2025 in Review

Throughout 2025, our work centred on deepening the core of the Canopy platform — ensuring it remains resilient, scalable, and aligned with real-world workflows.

This focus translated into tangible progress across product, architecture, and thought leadership.

Top 5 Product Wins of 2025

1. Expanded Asset Class Coverage Broader support across public markets, private assets, and alternative investments, reflecting how modern portfolios are truly constructed. 2. Enhanced Analytics & Attributes Stronger data validation, deeper analytical capabilities, and clearer performance narratives for more confident decision-making. 3. iOS Mobile App Launch Portfolio visibility and alerts enabling clients to stay informed anytime, anywhere. 4. Continued Evolution of Our Data Architecture Ongoing investment in scalability, accuracy, and future integration readiness to support long-term growth. 5. Publication of Our First AI Research Paper Articulating how intelligent systems can support financial operations as a foundational layer — not as a surface feature.

Industry Engagement, Recognition & Dialogue

Beyond the product, 2025 was also a year of listening.

We actively engaged with institutions, partners, and peers across the region, not to just seek visibility, but more to validate assumptions, test ideas, and learn from real operating environments.

Key engagements included:

  • Asian Financial Forum (AFF) 2025

These conversations continue to shape how we think about the future of wealth infrastructure — and where technology must remain grounded in operational reality.

Our efforts were also recognised across multiple industry platforms, including:

These recognitions reaffirm a belief we hold strongly: lasting impact comes from trust, systems thinking, and consistent execution.

New Doors & Meaningful Conversations

2025 was also a year of expansion — both geographically and relationally.

  • Hong Kong Office Opening in Nan Fung Tower, Central, strengthening our regional presence
  • Co-Hosting the Hong Kong 2025 Digital Asset Forum, engaging at the intersection of traditional wealth and emerging asset classes

  • Facilitating Client-Led Learning Sessions, we supported clients beyond technology by facilitating private, client-led learning sessions aligned with their evolving interests. One such session was organised for Efinity Capital, where we convened Ricky Shi, an early crypto investor and Venture Partner at SNZ Holding, to deliver a “Web3 101 for Professional Institutional Investors” session from an institutional, first-principles perspective.

  • Strategic & Closed-Door Conversations, including private dialogues with Andrew Cainey, former Head of the Rt Hon Tony Blair’s Asian Government Advisory Practice and Private CIO Roundtables with Janet Hung (COO) and Helen Zhu (CIO) of Nan Fung Trinity.

We will continue to facilitate similar closed-door learning sessions for families and investment teams who prefer to build understanding before taking action. If this is something your team would find valuable, we would be happy to explore it further.

Extending the Conversation: Amongst Families

In 2025, our CEO Mu Chen also launched a new podcast, Amongst Families.

The podcast is not about products or platforms. It is a space for honest conversations with family office principals, advisors, and operators — exploring how families think about wealth, governance, legacy, and responsibility across generations.

These conversations reflect a core belief at Canopy: that good systems begin with good questions — and those questions are best shaped through lived experience and open dialogue.

2026 Outlook: From Visibility to Leverage

Looking ahead to 2026, our focus is not on doing more — but on doing what matters better.

The year ahead centres on three themes: connectivity, interpretation, and value creation.

Deepening Data Connectivity

We will continue to enhance data connectivity across alternative assets — where fragmentation remains one of the greatest operational challenges.

This includes improving how data flows from fund administrators and private-market ecosystems into Canopy, enabling more consistent handling of ownership structures, capital activity, and reporting data.

Smarter Ingestion & Interpretation

Beyond connectivity, we are strengthening our ability to ingest, structure, and validate unstructured information — reducing manual effort and operational friction.

The goal is to support scale without increasing reliance on headcount.

Enhancing Analytical Depth with AI

In 2026, we will deepen our analytical capabilities across asset classes by integrating AI more directly into the analytical layer of the platform.

This includes using AI-assisted techniques to enhance performance interpretation, risk consistency, and cross-asset comparability—helping teams surface clearer insights from increasingly complex portfolios, while keeping workflows intuitive and uncluttered.

Our focus is not AI for novelty, but AI as a tool to augment analytical clarity, especially where scale, complexity, and fragmented data would otherwise limit human efficiency.

Expanding Platform Capabilities for Value Creation

Beyond reporting and analytics, 2026 will see a stronger fusion of AI-driven, assistive capabilities into how Canopy supports day-to-day operations and decision-making.

Rather than replacing human judgment, AI is applied to support teams through context-aware insights, guided workflows, and proactive signals—helping them identify issues earlier, prioritise attention more effectively, and operate with greater confidence and control.

All AI-enabled capabilities operate within clear boundaries and governance frameworks, reinforcing accountability while reducing operational burden.

Not as automation for its own sake, but as a way to help teams spend less time managing systems, and more time managing outcomes.
